Welcome to the USS Astraea NCC 112178!

The USS Astraea is a Luna Class starship commissioned in 2388. Originally set to be commanded under a different name by a different Captain, those plans were scrapped. Instead, the freshly built Luna class ship was given the Astraea moniker and assigned to Captain Arianna Warren, who had been in command of the previous, Ronin Class USS Astraea.

Now a science-focused exploration ship, the Astraea was sent out on its first mission of this mandate. Find the area of space claimed by a race known as the Plasarum and request their aid in saving the life of Captain Warren. This after a member of the Plasarum experimented on Warren and took control of the Ronin class ship she previously commanded.

Will they reach the Plasarum in time? Will they agree to help Captain Warren?

As I mentioned in the Discord announcements earlier today, I have decided to withdraw the Astraea from RPGW. This was not done with any ill intention or because of any particular reason. It was simply done because I did not feel that being part of a fleet was in our best interests at this moment.

For now, we will be independent. Forging our own path through the stars, making our own stories, just as we always have been. I know there are several pros to being with a fleet or writing group, but I have weighed all my options and feel this is best for this sim. It may change again in the future, only time will tell.

Now the other thing I would like to announce is that I will be slowly building up a wiki database. Whether it's on the Thresher wiki or if I make a separate wiki, I have yet to decide. I will include information on the Entity and its 'people', as well as any information we decide is canon for our story. If you would like to see something added to the wiki, let me know!

Thank you all for sticking with me and the Astraea! She wouldn't be what she is without each and every one of you!

» Site Updates

Posted on Sat Jun 20th, 2020 @ 5:15pm by Captain Arianna Warren in General News

In the past couple of weeks, we moved on to our new mission, but I hadn't yet updated the site to show our new ship class. So, over the past few days, I have slowly updated various bits of the site. There is still much to do, but here are all the changes that have been made:

- the ship specifications are now those of a Luna class.
- the deck listing has been carefully created and updated on site.
- a new banner, showcasing our new class and the ship's motto has been made/uploaded
- a new dedication plaque has been made/uploaded, which you can see on the Sim page.
- the message on the main page has been updated and a picture of the Luna class has been added.
- our gossip NPC, Ticker Tape, changed to Quidnunc Corner, is now visible on the Manifest, and has a fun new image. Check it out here. For those curious, the definition of quidnunc is: an inquisitive, gossipy person; busybody.
- a new rankset has been installed and made our default. This set was made by greenfelt of 22nd Fleet and is in the Picard 2380s style. (I think it's awesome and pretty!)

If you have any comments or suggestions, please send them to me either here or on Discord!

Thank you all for sticking with me and not complaining (too much) about the lack of updates to show the new ship class!

Status Update: December Edition

Welcome to Astraea’s December Status Update! It’s getting colder and the holidays are drawing closer. From now until January 6th, I am relaxing our posting rules. But I do hope that you all will still continue on with the puzzle rooms!

Crew

This month saw Heyho join us as Lieutenant JG Jeananne Sandberg, our new Chief Security/Tactical Officer! Currently her character is stranded on a station waiting for us to arrive. I have created an NPC to join her, if anyone else would like to do so, feel free!

Website

This month, I finally took down the defunct ship status mod. I will get the new specs up as soon as we go into the shoreleave mission.

Sim

This month we did 3 posts. It’s slow going with these big JPs but we’re on the home stretch now. Just three more rooms to go!

Again, I ask that you all please take a look at the list of crew awards! I would like to start utilizing them!

Mission Recap

Ari had come up with, in her opinion, a brilliant plan to have fun as a team and blow off some steam on the holodeck. Unfortunately, things never go her way and a program none of them created began to play. First, they were lured to a cottage in the woods. Then, when they entered, the first room gave us all a peek into Axiae’s past! The second and third rooms had us seeing Alyse’s and Sayori’s fears.

What else does this program have in store for the Astraea crew and will they ever escape it? Stay tuned to find out!

Objectives

*Escape the holodeck program!

Player of the Month

The Player of the Month for November is Andrew, who plays our beloved Purple Pixie, Lieutenant JG Sayori Summers! Andrew’s always good for posting, and getting things going. He’s also very good at taking an idea and running with it!

Congratulations Andrew! Despite what Stuart says, we all love Sayori!

Ideas

If anyone has any ideas for character development or even some subplots, share them with us. Shout them from the rooftops if you must! Though please take into consideration time of day and your neighbour’s eardrums.

That’s it for this month’s Status Update! Keep up the good work!

Any questions, comments, or issues, please don’t hesitate to contact the Command team. We are here for you!

Status Update: November Edition

Welcome to Astraea’s November Status Update! It’s starting to snow everywhere. Stores are puking Christmas all over the place. 2020 is crawling ever closer and I don’t think I’m ready for it! Heck, I wasn’t even ready for November to start, as evidenced by this being so late! What about you guys?

Crew

We’ve had no changes this month to our crew numbers. Though, with the losses the last few months, I'm planning on doing some recruitment soon. I'm trying to hold off until we start the shoreleave mission first, so that we don't have someone jumping in mid mission again. But I’m probably going to put an ad in FallFest today.

Website

No website changes this month. I will get the new specs up as soon as we go into the shoreleave mission.

Sim

This month we did 5 posts. It’s slow going with these big JPs but we’re on to the second room for the holodeck mission! I hope everyone is having fun with this!

Again, I ask that you all please take a look at the list of crew awards! I would like to start utilizing them!

Player of the Month

The Player of the Month for October is Sam, who plays our beloved Doctor, Lieutenant JG Charles Tylor! Despite a busy RL, Sam has taken Kris’ room concept and run with it. Quite entertainingly as well, I might add!

Congratulations Sam! We all <3 you, Doctor Charlie! :D

Welcome to Astraea’s October Status Update! It’s finally Fall! I’m probably not in the majority when I say this is the best time of the year! The leaves are changing, Thanksgiving is soon for us Canucks, and more importantly, Halloween is coming! Also, I recently celebrated my birthday, so that’s always a great time of year!

Crew

We’ve had no changes this month to our crew numbers. Though, with the losses the last few months, I'm planning on doing some recruitment soon. I'm trying to hold off until we start the shoreleave mission first, so that we don't have someone jumping in mid mission again.

No website changes this month. I will get the new specs up as soon as we go into the shoreleave mission.

Sim

This month we did 9 posts. We’re finally done with that mission and have moved on to the holodeck fun! I hope that it is much more enjoyable for you all!

Again, I ask that you all please take a look at the list of crew awards! I would like to start utilizing them!

Mission Recap

While the crafty Chief Engineer regained control of the ship after it fled, seemingly by itself, from the Starfleet vessel accusing Commander Ari Warren and Lt. Commander Liam McCarthy of treason, she was unable to do so before they entered S.o.K. territory. This was a dangerous place to be, though for the time being, it was much better than being within Starfleet territory.

Not having the structural integrity, nor the firepower, to take on a full-on Klingon fleet nor the heavily armed weapons facility, Ari discussed a plan of action with her second officer, Lt. Alyse Batari. Though Ari would never admit to her part in it, the plan to send a small team in was hatched. Alyse took her long-time friend, Lt. Marna Rhosyn and a couple of security guards to the weapons facility. There, the team hacked into the computers, stole data, some of which proving Ari and Liam’s innocence, and sabotaged the facility.

Shortly after returning to the Astraea, though with a few injuries, Alyse triggered the trap they placed, which caused the facility to explode. Their mission accomplished, Ari ‘admonished’ her team and confined them all to quarters as punishment.

A few days later, Ari came up with a, in her opinion, brilliant plan to have fun as a team and blow off some steam on the holodeck. Unfortunately, things never go her way and a program none of them created began to play. What does this program have in store for the Astraea crew and will they ever escape it? Stay tuned to find out!

Objectives

*Escape the holodeck program!

Player of the Month

The Player of the Month for September is Kris, who plays Lt. Alyse Batari! She has consistently assisted in moving the story line forward and gone out of her way to help me. Both Stu and I are in complete agreement that she deserves PoTM this month (she has no clue until now! Surprise!)!

Congratulations Kris! Astraea would not be what it is without you, Kris! You are invaluable to me and this sim!

Ideas

If anyone has any ideas for character development or even some subplots, share them with us. Shout them from the rooftops if you must! Though please take into consideration time of day and your neighbour’s eardrums.

That’s it for this month’s Status Update! Keep up the good work!
